Though few cartographers have returned with their minds intact, those who do speak of a coastline gripped by madness and ruin. These are their accounts—secondhand truths and fire-singed recollections etched into bloodstained parchment and broken teeth. From the shattered peaks of the Adamantine Chain to the warp-tainted shores of Hel’s Claw, each place is a fulcrum of war, ambition, and doom. Those who would stake their claim upon the Ravaged Coast would do well to study these grim locales—for forewarned is not safe, but it is at least slightly less doomed.
Hel’s Claw
A ruined frontier outpost that once served as a Sigmarite beachhead. Originally built atop a Khorne-aligned gladiatorial arena, it was reconsecrated and fortified until the Vermindoom shattered its defenses. Now overrun by Skaven, Hel’s Claw remains strategically vital due to its position beyond the Adamantine Chain and its proximity to both emberstone and warpstone deposits. Control of the site changes hands frequently, with clawpacks and warbands locked in constant, grinding conflict.
Brazenskull Volcano
A towering, desecrated volcano on the edge of the Great Parch. Once transformed into a sacrificial altar by Khorne’s followers, its lava flows now boil with magical corruption. Skaven have polluted its inner chambers for their own profane experiments. Rumors persist of lost weapons, emberstone-infused armories, and ritual relics hidden within, though few who enter its fiery shadow return intact.
Flotilla’s Scramble
A coastal boneyard formed during the initial chaos of the Vermindoom. When the Gnaw erupted, desperate mortals fled to sea, only to be consumed by boiling waves and Skaven ambushes. Their ships now rot in tangled heaps across jagged shorelines and shattered reefs. Scavengers and cursed spirits roam here, and the waters remain treacherous with acidic tides and warp-tainted currents.
Burningbridge
A lava-choked land bridge linking the northern fjords to the Ravaged Coast. It is a frequent Skaven invasion route, marked by charred terrain and repeated battles. Sigmarite forces—most notably the First-Forged Stormcast—have repelled multiple assaults here, but the cost has been severe. The region is littered with siege wreckage, desecrated shrines, and the remains of once-holy defenses.
Broken Earth and Hateful Sea
An unstable stretch of coastline in constant flux. Land bridges rise and collapse. Spires of emberstone emerge and vanish. Warpstone veins fissure the terrain. Sudden geological shifts, acidic geysers, and poisoned sea winds make navigation hazardous. Yet for warbands in search of arcane resources or tactical footholds, this deadly environment offers high reward alongside high risk.
Charkik’s Folly
A failed Skaven city turned warplight laboratory, once intended as a staging point into the eastern Parch. Its deeps remain unstable, riddled with warpstone reactors, twisted fauna, and rogue warpcraft. Though ruined, it still contains volatile crystals and buried experiments, attracting ambitious warbands and artifact hunters. The site is also a known haunt of rival Skaven factions.
Hel Crown
A fortified volcanic atoll on the Gnaw’s perimeter, long contested by both Chaos and Order. Once consecrated by Sigmar’s forces, its position made it ideal for defending the southern sea lanes. Though the Gnaw has corrupted much of its structure, it remains partially held by Freeguilders and Stormcast. Its waters shimmer with mutagenic residue, and its tunnels are often the site of desperate last stands and sudden ambushes.
This entry chronicles the narrative from our group’s ongoing Path to Glory: Ravaged Coast campaign, set in the world of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. All settings, factions, and lore are part of the rich universe created by Games Workshop. We’re here to paint minis, roll dice, and let myths be forged.
